Round 1 3ch, work 7tr into third ch from hook. Join into a circle.
Round 2 2tr into each stitch.
Round 3 2ch, 1tr in same st, *2tr in next, 1tr* rep to last st, 1tr, join.
Round 4 2ch, 1tr in same st, 1tr, *2tr in next, 2tr*, finish round 2tr in 1, 1tr, join.

Work 14 rounds straight, changing colour every round. Fasten off. Tidy up ends.
Handles
Using one strand of each colour, make a chain 150cm long. Fasten off. Tidy up ends.
Do the felting thing. I flung this in a hot wash with a few towels.
Blocking
I used a round plastic food container and left the bag to dry in place.
Cut 3-colour chain in half. Sew on as handles.

I love it! Glad I can't crochet or I'd need to make one :)
So, er, you don't want me to put up the knitted version then?
Ah, you must do for the sake of others. I'll put it on my list and stay calm.
Oooh, lovely pattern - thank you so much for sharing it, Lindsey! On my "to do" list already :)
Yes, put the knitting pattern up, please!
This is beautiful! I was searching for a pattern that I could craft into a lunch sack, and this is perfect. I shall go directly home to my hook and have it done by morning.
great purse!! well done. I may even try this one sometime.
Great purse pattern! Thanks for sharing! :)
I've started this project but am confused by one of the instructions. An example is in Round 5:
"Round 5 2ch, 1tr in same st, 2 tr *2tr in next, 3tr* finish round 2tr in 1, 2tr, join."
Where are the "2 tr" right before the asterisk attaching, in the space between stitches?
Thanks!
This looks lovely! Did you ever post the knit version? Can you give a link to it? Thanks!
this looks cute but what about a patter to it
What a cute bag, I can't wait to try it.
