Oh dear...

I downloaded a demo for Civilisation IV. It only lasts 99 turns, which is just enough time to get interested, and then it stops and opens a browser to load a Buy Now! page. Must Have This Game!! Fortunately it is nearly the Penguin's birthday so Someone (to be confirmed who exactly) will be buying this for me. The most likely choice was Dave but I think he may have decided it is a Bad Plan, as the demo has been stealing excessive amounts of Penguin attention from him (that's only his opinion BTW).

My 40cm bamboo circs arrived from Hong Kong yesterday, several days earlier than the week minimum. They are brilliant. I love them.

Am I actually doing any knitting at the moment? Yup. On the needles right now is an Elvis wig. Now, loads of people love this pattern but I haven't found anyone who has knitted it up. The pattern says it needs two 50g balls of Funky Fur but I think I might need another one. I bought another ball just in case, to make sure that I wouldn't need it. The wig would have been finished by now if it hadn't been for (see Para. 1).

Also in progress is a blue square for Knit a River, which is a very good idea and I encourage everyone to have a go at this. Even the dodgiest, hasn't knitted since primary school person can manage a 15cm square. DO IT!

Have a nice day

Glad you got great service with your bamboozles! I haven't played Civilisation so can't get excited with you :) Who's the Elvis wig for?

I knitted the Elvis wig some time ago (about 2 years) for one of my ex-colleagues. IIRC, I did it in Sirdar Nova, rather than FUnky Fur, so can't help you on yarn requirements. What I do remember thinking was that the wig didn't come down quite far enough at the back (needed to be a bit longer) so that the overall effect was more like a flat cap than a wig. hth
